UNDERGRADUATE - MUSIC EDUCATION (BMUED, Non-Performance)
Candidates in the brass area should prepare two movements from different compositions from the standard solo repertoire that show a contrast in style, one fast and the other slow and lyrical. (Two single movement works are also acceptable.) Accompaniment is not required. Major scales should be prepared; sightreading will be required. (Solo examples: Haydn Concerto, Hummel, Concerto, Arutunian Concerto, also: works by Bozza, Donato, Ropartz, Arban/Clarke, et al.) For financial aid & scholarship, please visit the website.

UNDERGRADUATE - PERFORMANCE (BM & PC)
Candidates in the brass area should prepare two movements from the standard solo repertoire that show a contrast in style, one fast and the other slow and lyrical. (Preferrably from two different works.) Also, please choose three (3) excerpts (e.g. Mahler 5, Leonore Nos. 2 or 3, Petroushka, Pines of Rome, Pictures at an Exhibition, et al.) from the standard orchestral repertoire. Accompaniment is not required. Major scales should be prepared; sightreading will be required. (Solo examples: Haydn Concerto, Hummel, Concerto, Arutunian Concerto, also: works by Bozza, Donato, Ropartz, Arban/Clarke, et al.) For financial aid & scholarship, please visit the website.

GRADUATE (MM & DMA)
Candidates should prepare several (3) different movements or solos from the standard repertoire that show a contrast in styles, one of which should be on the piccolo trumpet; five (5) orchestral excerpts from the standard orchestral repertoire; two contrasting etudes (one lyrical and one technical); scales & sightreading may also be asked. (Solo examples: Honegger Intrada, Tomasi Concerto, Jolivet Concerti, Tartini Concerto, Fasch Concerto, Telemann Concerto, also: works by Turrin, Chance, Ewazen, Francaix, et al.). Students wishing to apply for a graduate assitantship or scholarship will also interview at the time of the audition.
